Grand Opening

The grand opening of the center was scheduled for May 6th, 2023, the UCSD Center for Taiwan Studies signifies a pivotal advancement in Taiwan studies within the United States. This auspicious event witnessed the presence of eminent individuals such as our donors Dr. Chiu-Shan Chen’69 (陳秋山 博士) and his spouse, Rufina Chen. We were also honored by the presence of School Chancellor Pradeep Khosla, EVC Elizabeth Simmons, and a delegation spearheaded by Director General C.Y. Chi from the LA Taipei Economics and Culture Office (TECO) who graced the center's introductory session. Moreover, we received recognition from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles and local Taiwanese-American news coverage on this milestone of opening the Center of Taiwan Studies at UCSD.
